My Painfully Long Biography
During my early years, I always seemed to have a number of interests. My first interest was and is writing. I still enjoy doing that whenever I have the time. There is just something so fascinating about creating something out of a single thought and watching it grow into something you didn't imagine initially.
My second interest occurred when I was in the 6th grade, After my mother brought home our first computer (a TI/99 4A - Texas Instruments computer), I dabbled with the BASIC programming language for hours just to see how I can move a few sprites across the screen. Back then, home computing was at its infancy, but I knew I wanted to learn a programming language one day.
About the time I was a freshman in high school, I suddenly gained a huge interest in another form of media. That summer, my brothers and my friends decided to make use of the VHS camera that my mother was using. So we decided that this would be a great time to make some home action movies. Although I spent all of my time behind the camera, I was more fascinated with editing and special effects than I was with the actual shooting. We made our own sound effects by hooking together two VCRs and applying sound through an old mixer through a microphone.
When I attended junior college, I was trying to figure out which direction to go. At the time, no one taught about the creative aspects of computing. In fact, most schools only taught about Computer Science and focused on building or using business applications. Unfortunately the school didn't have anything in regards to the video profession as well and I ended up taking over 60 units at the school trying to figure out what I wanted to do.
Fast forward a number of years. I ended up working for a number of companies in which I designed and maintained databases using Access. During the weekends, I found myself creating some fun posters or even videos for the people at work. As each weekend approached, I was often bombarded with people who wanted to know what I was going to create for the following week.
As time passed, a number of my co-workers suggested that I attend an art school. Some felt I was wasting my talent in something that didn't allow me to express my creativity. This eventually led to me attending school at the Art Institute of San Diego. It is at this time when I discovered the technology has advanced significantly. Excited again that I would have the opportunity to be involved both in video and computing, I jumped at the chance. The whole experience has opened my eyes to other things I had never considered. Later I would transfer to the Art Institute of Phoenix to complete my bachelor's degree in Multimedia/Web Design. With the knowledge and experience I have gained over the last 4 years, I know I can be a very nice asset to anyone's team.
